The Curriculum Model: Eight Academic Subject Areas:

All MYPIB students are required to take 8 academic subject areas each year that they are enrolled in the programme. The subject areas are:

  • Language A: English or French (According to the section) + Arabic language
  • Language B: Second Language (French or English- according to the section)
  • Humanities: History and Geography (in French or English- according to the section) and Social Studies of the Egyptian ministry of Education (in Arabic language)
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • The Arts: Art/Drama, Music
  • Physical Education
  • Technology: IT- Design technology

In the MYP curriculum model, the student is at the center. The five areas of interaction surround the student. The areas of interaction are common interactive themes embedded in the subject groups and developed naturally through them. They are also embedded in special activities and projects, but they are not subjects in their own right. The areas of interaction are designed so that the student will become increasingly aware of the connection between subject content and the real world., rather than considering subjects as isolate areas unrelated to each other and to the world.
